My First Kirin Burn

To start off the evening I had a bunch of RL stuff to do ... again. But once I got done with that I got a chance to log on and chat with some friends while playing RB2 (GOT MY SOUND GUY) and then headed back out to volleyball. I ROCKED in volleyball again btw. :D

Once I got home it was time for gods. This was going to be my first time with gods in LolFail. Started with Seiryu which was pretty easy, just bound him on his 2hr and we were fine and it surprisingly went well and people disengaged on it in time too. Then we moved on to Suzaku which went well but not as smoothly as one would hope because a few people died from his 2hr because people were really slow on unlocking from him. Those two were pretty easy though, but the real test was up next. It was time for Byakko which I figured would actually let me know how good this LS was. I must admit, Byakko went very smoothly, probably more smoothly than the other two actually. One thing I must say I was impressed with was people were actually on top of the paralynas. Oh, and to top it off, Haidate dropped so that is another person out of the kitty pants line.

Now we move on to the main event, my first Kirin burn. So I actually got to come on my WAR/SAM which was REALLY surprising because my WAR isn't all that well geared especially because Disdain has some of my gear still, like my assault earring and someone else has my chiv chain. Oh well, I swore I wouldn't dump any gil into my WAR until I got Byakko's Haidate which I am sticking to. I will put some more effort into it when I actually have the gil to put into it, like actually lotting on some Heca gear. But back to what I was talking about, the Kirin burn. Each party had a WHM, a BRD, and 4 DD. We did a few practice runs to get the BRDs around to each party with songs gotten out. Its a good thing they did the practice runs because the first try was terrible, and the 2nd one Sush d/c'd, but it was better on the 3rd, and the 4th was when we actually went. I didn't actually parse it but I feel that I did a pretty good job, even without using Mighty Strikes which looking back I should have done. Once the BRDs finished their songs Sush popped Kirin and we just rocked Kirin. His 2hr didn't even kill anyone which was VERY surprising, and no one died at all because the whm nailed benediction right on time. Sadly no W. Legs dropped but N Body and Osode dropped which were both very welcome since that knocks people down in points a lot which brings me up ever so slightly.

Overall it seems like this could be a fun LS to be in. And to be perfectly honest, I was happy for the people that got the drops. I didn't get anything but I don't really expect to be in contention for anything for another week or two. It was a good feeling though to be able to help other people out and get them what they want/need to better gear their jobs. I would be lying if I didn't say it was a good feeling to have myself move that much closer to getting gear for myself too. For this LS I think I will do the smarter thing and instead of just sitting on points like I always used to do I plan on getting what I can, while I can. Although, some of this gear seems to be almost free dropping which would cut the point costs greatly so I may just stick to hoping they free drop to me for a minimal point loss.

Tonight is more RL stuff and then more sky. I may actually try to gear up my PLD tonight too. PLD will be my next job and I might as well get it ready because next week I will have oodles of more free time which means I can go exp again. I guess I will shoot for PLD at 50 by the end of next week maybe since my gf will be around this weekend and then I will have sky stuff late nights which is usually when I get the most exp in.

Welcome back. Well, I guess that means there is a good reason for sky farming, BLM exp. I got the last 12k exp I needed to cap it in the past 2 days sky farming. It seems like a pretty good group of people up there and they are all easy going. Some of them have some really nice gear but don't know how to play their job well which goes to show, gear doesn't always make the player. Then the biggest thing I just couldn't believe was one of the sacks called for help on Faust. Needless to say my jaw kinda dropped. Only the tank ended up dying though because everyone else just logged out to lose hate. It also gave me a chance to finish my 3 song set I was doing in RB2. hehe Only need a few more stars to get my song guy!

Sorry, got sidetracked. We sadly only got Faust and a Ulli because Ulli was the main thing we needed for more Byakko because we have a few sets of everything else. It was relaxing just sitting up there, watching TV, and blowing stuff up. I felt like I was duoing stats though because Sush's BLM is only 72 and wasn't really nuking for much and the RDM was only landing Grav about 2/3 of the time. It was strange that my enfeebs were landing more than the RDMs.

All I have left to see in this group is gods. They have handled all trigger mobs pretty well so time to see how they do on gods. Tonight we are supposedly doing a Byakko, Kirin, and maybe some Suza and Sieryu, but I'm not 100% sure. I just know the Byakko and Kirin for sure though ... hopefully. It would be nice to see some more people move out of my way in my run for W Legs or B. Haidate. Another problem I foresee is just like every other LS I'm in, I will probably be coming on BLM. If you don't like BLM, don't let anyone know you have it because they will ask you to come it every time.

Before actually heading up to sky I have to go out and get my tuxedo that I got tailored, get a suit for Halloween that I can kinda ruin, and then I have volleyball at 9. It will be full day again but hopefully I can get the suit quickly from a thrift store because I want to get my sound guy tonight in RB2. :D

Another Sad Loss

As of last night Swifman is now on Titan server. He was originally jumping to go snag himself a Hauteclaire but I guess they actually wanted him to join the LS. I guess he just wanted a change and to meet some new people. He told me that if things go really well over there he is going to try and convince me to move but I don't really see myself ever switching servers again. I did it once a long time ago back when I was in a non end game LS and basically all my friends jumped over so I had no real problem with it. This on the other hand I would be leaving all the people that I know including my RL friends which I CAN'T do. They are really what's holding me to the game still.

Anyways, this weekend I was out of town again so not much as far as gaming. Last night I did get a Castle Z coffer Key for my THF AF so I won't have to pick it, but the main reason I got it was because Beerman needed a testimony for his SAM so I went to help him out. It was fun killing some of those demons and amazing how easy they are.

Once we finished that, which was actually pretty quickly, key on first mob and test on 2nd SAM mob, I decided I was going to join Sush's Sky shell. Yeah, I know, its really going to slow me down from gaining levels but in the mean time I can get points in a sky shell to get gear that I REALLY want and I will be making some gil. Making gil is always a necessity because I haven't been abusing Screamin's cooking at all really. I still haven't tried to use it for profit, I've only used it for cheaper food. If I actually dedicated a little bit of time to crafting I'm sure I could make a couple 100k a week. The only way I see myself doing that is this week during lunch because Khrone is out of town which means all of my lunch hours are totally free so I could actually run home and snag lunch and craft.

So I guess I have decided that I'm going to be doing some end game again and at least getting my 15 points a week to be able to receive my payout for the week. Besides that I will be looking forward to the gear that I will be eventually getting.

Tonight will be a really busy night because I have a ton of RL stuff and then when I get home I will have Sky to attend and maybe even some gods to kill. I'd be completely ok with sitting on the outside of the fighting alliance and just getting points while I sit back and play a little Rock Band 2. :D I am thinking I won't be getting any new exp done this week because I will be so busy, but after this weekend I won't see my gf for 3 weeks and I will definitely be cutting back on my RL stuff. Which means starting next week I will be getting back to exp and hopefully cruising my way to 50 on my last few jobs.

There is hope for this game

So to finish off THF I logged back in in Gustav Tunnel and there were 2 guys killing everything at my camp. At first I was kinda bummed, but then they realized I was going for the goblin pets and left the goblin BSTs alone. They were 2 JP guys that didn't speak any English but were very nice. I mean, they even cried for me the one time I died.

All in all I did get to level 50 on THF and was very happy. This means I am now done with THF for a very long time, which makes me very happy. It just did not seem like anyone wanted to invite a THF even though I was a good DD simply because I understood HOW to play the job. And knowing is half the battle... GI JOOOOOOOOOOE!!!!!!!! Oh, um... Yeah, but groups just didn't like inviting me so I had to try to make deal and go solo.

I am actually very happy that I am done with THF, not only because I am done with a job I haven't really been having fun with but because I get to open up a bunch of inventory space now. I think starting last night I had about 5 open slots, now after sending a bunch of stuff back to my mule I have about 15 spots and still stuff that needs to be sold. Not to mention the next job on my list will be a very liked job ... PLD! One of the biggest problems with starting a party is finding a tank and since I will be one, and hopefully a well geared one, I shouldn't have any problems at all getting a party.

PLD will be a good change of pace because for one I won't have to carry all that extra gear around and I can start showing how much I'm learning about all of these jobs that I am playing. My goal will be to get all of these jobs at some point to 75 and actually KNOW how to play them and play them all pretty well. PLD is one that kind of worries me because I have to know what I need to do to hold strong hate even over a very good DD. I have been toying around a little on Screamineagle's but it is still hard sometimes because I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing and when and all of that jazz. Learning the ins and outs of the job is what leveling is all about though, so when I hit 50 I believe I will be pretty confident tanking end game since I don't really get anything new besides gear between 50 and 75.

I guess more than anything I am looking forward to having a job that I should be able to get quick parties on and be able to speed through levels again. There is something about the grind of leveling that makes it so rough, but there is something completely different about blitzing through levels. The grind is tough because you really feel like it is a struggle for every party you get and every mob you fight, but when you are blitzing through levels it almost becomes second nature to you and you hardly notice how fast you are going. I dunno, I guess I will just have to wait and see how it goes when I actually gear it up and go.

This weekend is another weekend of visiting my gf because it is a home OSU football game and they are playing Penn State which means a HUGE game. Basically whoever wins this puts themself in contention for the National Championship game. But all that means that I won't be gaming until Sunday and I have a feeling I may be joining Sush's Sky LS on Sunday as well. I could really use the steady flow of gil as an income to help pay my way to some new good gear and help pay for my leveling because when I get to RNG its going to get expensive. Not to mention only looking forward to Maat's Cap doesn't have the incentive that it did before. I'd really like to have some of the Shura gear waiting for me when I get high enough and be able to snag some w legs .... :D and some N gear to be able to make my WAR worth while and DRG when I get it there. Its just there are always spots I could upgrade on all of my jobs. So I guess that's it for now. Have a good weekend.

What time is it....?

TOOL TIME! I mean DUO TIME!

The night started out with some normal RL stuff and then into some Rock Band 2 and then into duoing with my brother. Honestly the duoing felt REALLY slow but with our exp rings on it seemed good since we were doing about 7k/hr. It was probably just that we were fighing mostly IT mobs which was really a pain and just always took a while to kill each mob. Once Khrone hits 31 or so on his DNC I can abuse him for the Desert camp. We did get 2 levels for him on DNC and I eventually got 2 levels on my THF.

Once I burned the rest of my first ring and my second ring we decided to stop for the night. When we finished I was 1600 til 49 so I went out to Gustav Tunnel and was killing some leeches out there. I did die once but that was because I tried out Hide and realized that when pets are involved it doesn't work. The next time I got the huge links I was smart and just Flee'd to get my butt outta there. Once I started to settle into a rhythm I was moving pretty well at about 4k/hr since I'm using junk level 28 Archer's Knives and my only real damage I do is my SA + VB which does hit anywhere from 35-50% of the leech's HP. I decided to just log out out there so I can just log on today and finish my THF to 50 ... finally.

Tonight will be at least THF to 50 since I'm only about 5 or 6k away. After that I will either be going to do something with Khrone or maybe go back out there on DRG to finish that off to 50 so I can work on my AF quest and get rid of the keys I have. Finishing THF and DRG will be nice because it will clear up some well needed inventory space.

Fun with New Friends

I got a good laugh out of this story that I am going to tell but I will talk about it when I get to it in chronological order.

Started off the night by going to play volleyball ... after playing some Rock Band 2 of course. Then after getting online and looking for a party no one was biting on getting a THF so of course I played some more RB2. I actually unlocked a bunch of new venues and songs, but after I played my last 3 song gig I had enough stars to go for my plane! So tonight I will be going for my plane to open up the rest of the world to go around and make some new fans and open LOTS more stuff in the game.

At about 11:30 someone FINALLY invited me to their party. I was pumped, even though I did have to pause a song and screwed up a little because I wanted to make sure I got into the party. Once the party was together we went out to Quicksand Caves and there was a party there so we pulled back a little and tried our luck even though that is really a 1 party camp. At the start I was being nice and letting the other THF pull more mobs because their party was their 1st and I did feel a little bad. A little while later while me and the other THF were waiting for mobs to respawn I made a funny by saying, "I wish these mobs repopped like Colibri." Apparently that's when I set off the other THF because he responded with, "That's why this is a 1 party camp you assholes." Obviously I took offense to being called an asshole, so I did what any other "asshole" would do. I stopped being nice and kept out pulling him on EVERY mob that we tried to pull at the same time. Well if he's going to call me an asshole I might as well act like it right?

What was also amusing is that the THF kept checking me and checking me, I swear he had a macro to check me. Seriously, he checked me about 15 times in about a 15 min span, which was at least 2 times every time he wasn't engaged. Sadly for him he was trying to make fun of my gear which I admit was under par but I was still doing hella damage with my SA's and SATA's which I found a nice medium with since there was no 2nd voker for the PLD. I would SA at the start then SATA the SAM later on because if nothing else he could take a hit or two. Not to mention no one could even come close to what my WSs were doing because my high was about 420 and anyone else's was about 180. So even with my level 28 Archer's Knives I was still doing some awesome damage. That's one of the things that other THF kept trying to make fun of me for, he said "Nice daggers", and I replied with "Thanks, level 28 ftw", and he then responded with, "I was being sarcastic goofy." At that point I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or poke fun at me again, but knowing me, I took it as a compliment that I was still better than he was. :D

To top this whole story off, his party left about 2 mobs before mine did and that's when I realized that he was a 75 THF that was level syncing down to level 47. WHAT A RETARD! He was wearing a bunch of high level gear and I don't think he realizes that most of that high level gear doesn't sync down very well, OH WELL. So does that still make me a better THF than him?

Today I have some more RL stuff after work which means I won't be able to get online until about 9 or so tonight. I'm really hoping that I can at least hit 49 on my THF so I can just go to Gustav to solo pets instead of going all the way out to Cape Teriggan. So if I do hit 49 on THF tonight I'm going to stop it there and swap to my DRG and go kill some pets because I need to get my DRG to 50 so I can start popping those coffers and complete some AF.

On a side note, I am hoping Hybrid will be back this weekend because he has had some RL issues with moving and "stuff" but he will be back. Which means I will have my exp buddy back! ... hopefully :D

Rock Band 2

Last night I had VERY little time to do anything in game because I had so much RL crap to take care of. I got home and mowed my lawn, then went somewhere for a couple hours, then came home and did some QUICK cleaning in my room so my brother, another guy, and myself could sit down and play Rock Band 2.

We ended up unlocking a bunch of stuff on RB2 since they are both pretty good at RB1 so it was pretty easy for them to just pick up some of the newer songs. As for me I was trying to up my skills and struggling with some of the Hard on guitar and vocals, but I barely got to play the drums because my brother and the other guy were a lot better than I was. We opened up a couple new cities and new venues but the thing that was cool that we opened up was the Van we got. Just before we got the Van we also got a manager and were able to hire some people to help promote our band, Blue Balls.

Yes, the name of my band is Blue Balls. There is a little back story to the name but basically we had to come up with a name this weekend while I was at my gf's sister's house and Blue Balls is the name of the drink that my gf came up with that is actually pretty good (Blueberry Vodka, Sprite and Cranberry Juice). So we chose Blue Balls because it was one of the quick names that was spouted out while we were brain storming.

In Rock Band 2 right now I'm just really going for unlocking all the songs. There are still a limited number of songs that I recognize so it is kind of tough for me to really WANT to play all of these songs. Some of the newer songs do sound pretty cool though that I haven't heard before. One of the songs I still haven't played yet that just sounds cool from the preview is the Panic! at the Disco song.

As far as FFXI goes ... I think I'm going to be joining Sush's LS because I have a ton of sky gear I need/want and its about time I found an LS like his that supposedly does 4-7 Kirins a week! He wants to push for 9 Kirins a week but that is pretty rediculous. Plus the weekly payouts would be awesome because I can always use the gil, ALWAYS. I am hoping that joining his LS will be a good change of pace because honestly I'm getting a little bored with just exping alllllll the time. What is also nice about his LS is that its not mandatory. So if I do get the drive to exp again, I can. I think it will be nice to actually have good gear to be looking forward to because I hear that some of the Shura gear is just free dropping now which will definitely be benefitial to me because I don't know exactly how their lotting rules are, like if I have to have a job at a level to actually use the gear. Eh, whatever, I'll just join and see how it goes I guess.
