Ok, so I beat Maat on THF yesterday, and I have absolutely no clue how. I will have to go through and total up the numbers and all but I really have no clue how I beat him. By the shear fact that I don't think I did nearly as much damage as my other runs, I'm down right stupefied. The only thing that changed from the last fight was the Emperor's Hairpin and Leaping Boots that I borrowed from Disdain.
Let us start out with the numbers I do remember off the top of my head:
- I evaded 7 of Maat's attacks
- Blink absorbed 3 of Maat's attacks
- I Perfect Dodged 7 of Maat's attacks
- Maat gave up when I dropped him below 20%
- I DID NOT HAVE AN ICARUS WING
- I used a Vile Elixir +1
- I used an exp scroll to level up
So, those are the glaring facts of the fight that I currently have. I did also have a Vile Elixir ready for use just in case. Actually as Maat gave up I was hitting my macro to use it because I only had about 530 HP when he gave up which is AT MOST 3 hits.
The fight: 100 TP, Blink Band, Sole Sushi +1, Sneak Attack, hit for 200+, melee, hang up phone, Evisceration for about 250, hit my I Wing macro, realize I didn't have an I Wing, search satchel for I Wing, ....no I Wing, swear a lot in tells to Disdain while still meleeing, Maat PD's, I Flee to entrance, wait for him to catch up to me, flee to the back of the zone, use exp scroll, melee, Dancing Edge, Vile Elixir +1, use PD, melee and pray for my life, Maat gives up while I am hitting my Vile Elixir macro.
I know that may not be the most readable summary but until I post my screenshots that'll have to do.
The ONLY thing that I can think of is that maybe his evasion wasn't nearly as high so I was landing more melee hits because that was the first time I was able to get to 100 TP without using sleeping pots or an I Wing. By all that I can think of though is that he still should've whooped me because other fights I did a skill chain and still only got him to 28%. I'm really looking forward to going home and running the numbers for these fights.
There is one hypothesis I do have for all of these fights: Maat gets easier the more times you fight him. Again, there is no proof, nor have I fought him more than the necessary times. The only thing that makes me think this is that the more times I have fought him on all of my jobs I have always gotten him further down in health and he has done things that wouldn't do as much damage to me. For example, the first time I lost to him on DRK, he drained me for 300+ HP to finish me off, but never used it in any of my other fights. Maybe I'm totally off my rocker, but its just a thought.

How Did I Lose?
First off I tried 2 Maat fights this weekend, one went well and the other, lets just say I don't see how someone could win this fight if I didn't.
DRK fight went well. I went in prepped and ready to rock his face. The fight only lasted about 20 seconds because I went in fully buffed, Drain 2 > Guillotine > I Wing > Vile Elixir +1 > Guillotine > Blood Weapon > 2 hits > done. Using the Vile Elixir +1 REALLY helped out because it basically doubled the damage of my 2nd Guillotine. The reason my 2 Guillotines didn't kill him right off the bat was that one of the swings of my first Guillotine missed because instead of doing almost 1300 damage like I was before I only did about 1000. That was ok though because I was prepared with extra meds to make sure I won that fight.
Now what REALLY angered me was my THF fight. I figured it would be a breeze, but boy was I wrong. Here's how the fight went SA > hit > Dancing Edge > I Wing > Dancing Edge > hit > (he 2hr'd) > Flee > Run to entrance > Vile Elixir +1 > get my ass handed to me > Perfect Dodge > Hi-potion x3 > Vile Elixir > I die with Maat having 40% health. How in hell am I supposed to beat him when I recovered probably around 1k HP and still only took him down to 40%. The ONLY explanation I can find in this is that he guarded my 2nd DE so it only did half damage. That could've been an extra 10% damage there which could've caused him to give up. One other option I have is to merit Dagger twice so I can have Evisceration at 66 and be able to do a Distortion for more damage. I may actually do that just because in the long run it may save me time from having to get ANOTHER THF Testimony. Because I'm oh so excited to have to get another one as it is.
This is the week of Maat for me. I hope to have the cap by Sunday evening. I know I've said this previously but I think I can pull away from my gf long enough this week and hopefully get a few SMN burns in to finish my RNG off. The two big problems right now are getting my THF Testimony again and then getting my RNG to 66. Here's to hoping I have a good week in FFXI.

One Job Left
THF exp is complete! I had some extra time last night and some friends weren't doing anything AND the tunnel was empty. Those three things together means uber exp party. lol
Before I got the group together I was sitting in Besieged skilling up my Divine Magic with Lilmama and Eldeus. I got almost 20 levels on my Divine Magic and am almost ready for my Maat fight on WHM, excluding not having the Testimony yet. But some funny stuff did happen in Besieged. For one, I kept taking hate from Eldeus on his full Usu MNK on my level 66 WHM just spamming Banish, Banish II, Flash, and Holy which was rather amusing. Then there was a huge group of Lamia and undead by the AC room in the courtyard and there was a General there spamming an AoE WS. Well, I decided it would be a fantastic idea to go in and spam Banishga and Banishga II and watch myself die from all the mobs coming at me, but it never happened. All the mobs moved a little but then the General spammed her AoE WS and got all the hate back so I was just spamming my AoE spells too which was rather amusing.
Anyways, when the second Besieged started Swifman was well into bugging me to start a party so I decided to ask the other puller/holder/leecher that I know that wasn't busy. He said he was down and bam we had a party. Originally I was telling myself that I would burn only on my RNG from here on out but I decided that I really didn't WANT to exp on my THF and would much rather exp on my RNG if it came down to it so I burned my THF to about 10k to 67.
This was an AWESOME pull by yours truly though. I mean, the other guy pulled the middle to hold and I pulled the bats, spiders, and then leeches/bogies. First off, the mobs were cooperating a lot more this pull so I lost a lot less mobs. Secondly, I got a bunch more bogies than I normally do. Thirdly, I finally figured out how to pull the leeches without having them deaggro by going over water, w00t! There was only one problem with this pull, the sync was 77 exp until 12 and only made it to 3k til 19 which meant no Thunderspark. It was an awesome pull but unlucky on the astral flows because it seemed that a lot of mobs only got hit by a few of the bursts instead of all of them. At the end of the 9 bursts there were still mobs with 80% HP which isn't cool. The cool part was that we still hit a chain 25 just by doing Thundersparks. Overall with an exp ring I think we got around 45k exp which is REALLY good considering we didn't chain that well during the astral flows.
Tonight could be a potentially great night. We have Dynamis-Tavnazia at 8PM but I have volleyball at 8:30. What I'm hoping is that I can get out of volleyball right at 9:30 and make it home in time for the 2nd run of Tav and HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY have a chance at RDM hat. The odds are slim but here's to hoping right? Besides that I'm hoping to get some more exp and Maat fights done. I'd like to at least get 1 more Maat fight done tonight so I can knock another one off my list.

Maat Masher
Let me tell you, Maat is not an easy guy. I lost to him on DRG and BLM and almost lost on RDM. From what I hear is that RDM is really tough but I did it in 1 try which I'm proud of. The RDM fight made me realize something though, when fighting Maat, macro out the fight and run through it at the BCNM before you enter.
For DRG, I was cocky. I went in saying to myself that it would be an easy fight. I went in, slept to 100, Penta, Jump, High Jump, Icarus Wing, Penta, and I was dead. Looking at this you might think it was a good job, but then when you really look at it, you realize I didn't use food and didn't use my 2hr. That right there my friends is why I lost. If I would've used food and my 2hr I would've won because I had him down to 40% when I died. Although I also would've won if he didn't partly guard my 2nd Penta. My first Penta did 660 and my second one only did 330, that bastard! DRG was by far the hardest Testimony to get too, but I at least know I need to go to SSG and it shouldn't be hard and I can make some easy gil in the process.
BLM I choked. I went in cocky again and just choked. If I would've read anything about the fight I would've discovered that I could 2 shot AM2. Instead, I went for 3 T4s and then paniced and got waterga III'd to death. BLM at 75 should be simple, AM2, stun, sleep, AM2. But noooo, I stunned and then nuked again wasting my stun that I should've used for that -ga. Lessoned learned... macro the fight, don't take it for granted, and read up as much as possible, it'll save me time in the long run.
WAR I basically macro'd out and I OWNED Maat. I mean I'm pretty sure he was D-E-D DEAD! Of course being 75 helps a lot with damage. hehe RDM was a lot tougher but not as hard because I macro'd the whole thing out so I could just not panic and smack around my macros in order and bam, done. Although, if his blink didn't take one of my debuffs and one of my nukes it would've been a lot easier.
Now on to the brighter part of my weekend, SMN and SMN burning. SMN burning went very nicely, THF is now 65 and ready to be regeared and exp'd to 66. I only need about 25k to get to 66 and I have to gear the job anyways so I might as well gear it and exp it instead of wasting a SMN burn on it. This means I basically only have RNG to do. Go go power Ranger!!! Yeah, shut up, its funny. Sadly, I do not currently have the inventory space to support my RNG gear. This means I need to do a few more Maat fights then unload some gear. Not to mention I stil need to get my RNG AF which is actually mostly worth while to get.
Getting back on track, my SMN is doing pretty well too. I have to admit, SMN is definitely growing on me. Its pretty fun to have your summon go knock some junk up and not be worried about being injured yourself. What I really want to mention is that last night I went to Whitegate to pick something up from Swifman (which will be explained in todays QotD) and saw a shout for a Fenrir fight. Well gues what, I only needed the Fenrir item to get my Evoker's Ring. 5xSMN and a RDM absolutely owns Fenrir by the way. So when I go home tonight, I will have my shiney new Evoker's Ring waiting for me and my refresh active while Carby is out now!!! I so cited!!! This is the first stepping stone to me gearing my SMN. The next ... Yinyang Robe!
On a side note, I actually did some more crafting yesterday. It was great because with the stuff I sold I made about 400k. Such a great feeling seeing my hard work for Bonecraft to finally start paying me back. Of course 10 minutes after it all sold I went and bought a 630k Jupiter's Staff. So much for a profitable weekend right?

After we finished playing I had to run up to Whitegate to get my key item for ISNMs anyways. I find him and am all excited to get my gift. I get my gift in the form of a white arrowhead looking piece which as most would recognize as a Phantom Tathlum. Immediately after trading me he says: "Now quit being a nuub already!" That is right when I lol'd.

Learning To Play DRG
People don't understand how to play jobs anymore. They think that joining a TP burn party is just that, you join, you swing, you use your TP, and repeat. If that is your philosophy, just quit the game now because you're ruining it for me.
Now I know as a DRG you do massive amounts of damage on Colibri and its really hard for a NIN to tank against you without hate help from someone like a THF. This is where my latest party with DRG was set up well, but executed poorly. The THF was SATAing a BLU/THF... /headdesk. The BLU was dropping huge damage SA'd spells at the beginning of fights.... /slap. And I was the only one sitting there holding back on my damage so the NIN could be the one tanking.
Dear THF, you're a moron. You are level 60+ and I understand you just love SATA, but with Assassin you can now seperate SA and TA and still drop good amounts of hate on the tank, GO YOU. I had to sadly explain this to the guy so he would actually do it correctly. It turns out that I didn't have e nough time to explain how DEX and AGI work with SA and TA though.
Dear BLU, you were better than the THF because you at least knew he was wrong but its partly your fault too because you can just as easily TA the NIN for more hate which you NEVER DID. Yes, I know the NIN has Yonin now for extra enmity, but on Colibri he has Provoke and ... Provoke unless he wants to get his face blown up by spells. My rule of thumb is wait for at least a second Provoke before you do big damage or you start wasting the healer's MP. That is, wait for the second Provoke if you don't have a means of mittigating the hate you just got.
Dear other DRG, don't use High Jump to build TP to WS and then not have Super Jump ready to shed more hate, your face will get eaten especially because you were /WAR and couldn't even take 1 hit.
Dear me, GOOD JOB! You used Jump at will to help do damage and build TP. You came /SAM so you could get to 100% TP with 1 less swing. You gear swap on WS's to boost your damage and make exp flow faster. You learned that using the combination of Third Eye > Penta Thrust > High Jump or Super Jump usually meant you took 0 damage. As it turns out it was good timing between battles too because you could either use High Jump or Super Jump each fight. You also didn't use High Jump > Penta Thrust > getting your face rapped because you were intelligent. You also learned that when you have someon who relies on being behind the mob for big amounts of damage you should stand next to the tank because you will take hate. Here's to you Mr. Smart DRG Man. Ahh, the joys of an 8k/hr party in a 12k/hr camp....
As awesome as that party was they were understanding when I had "something come up" and I had to leave real quick. Funny part was that that "something came up" was a SMN burn party that I could get hella faster exp than I was with them. That was the start of a pretty good SMN burn weekend.
By the end of the weekend I had gotten my THF to 62, my DRG to 65 (in the exp party), and my SMN to 70. My first Predator Claws was also for 1258 on a poor bat in Zeruhn Mines. I know I shouldn't be worrying about my SMN but getting it to 75 is an eventuality anyways. Also, the sooner I get my SMN to 75, the sooner I get to turn these parties into merit parties and put myself into a substantially better position for getting into DF. But I did get 2 more levels on THF which is sorely needed because I really don't WANT to level THF at all. There is a lot of gear that goes into making THF good and I just don't want the hassle of all the swap gear for a few levels. Once I get through THF and get my last level on DRG I will only have RNG. Yeah, I'm PUMPED!!!!!! Just having all the exp done will make me feel great. When I finish all my exp for Maat's Cap I think I will put in my app to DF and while they are talking about not letting me in I can work on fighting Maat. lol 21 LEVELS OR 377K EXP TO GO!!!!!
There's so much I can do after I get done with Maat's Cap its not even funny. For one is stress less about NEEDING exp and HAVING to finish this. I can relax and maybe concentrate on gil making, missions, Campaign, and maybe even finishing off some stuff on Screamineagle. This is such a comforting feeling to be able to see the end and not have any HUGE plans afterwards. Maybe some exp, definitely some merits when I feel like it, possibly crafting, such options!
Oh, and on a quick side note, I did my first Einherjar run in a loooooooooong time with DF this weekend. Someone messed up a pull and linked the last wave of mobs and the boss so we ended up wiping but I'm just happy I got about 1300 points that is going towards my Omega Ring. If they let me in I would love to dual box Screamineagle in there to get him some extra gear as well.

As awesome as that party was they were understanding when I had "something come up" and I had to leave real quick. Funny part was that that "something came up" was a SMN burn party that I could get hella faster exp than I was with them. That was the start of a pretty good SMN burn weekend.
By the end of the weekend I had gotten my THF to 62, my DRG to 65 (in the exp party), and my SMN to 70. My first Predator Claws was also for 1258 on a poor bat in Zeruhn Mines. I know I shouldn't be worrying about my SMN but getting it to 75 is an eventuality anyways. Also, the sooner I get my SMN to 75, the sooner I get to turn these parties into merit parties and put myself into a substantially better position for getting into DF. But I did get 2 more levels on THF which is sorely needed because I really don't WANT to level THF at all. There is a lot of gear that goes into making THF good and I just don't want the hassle of all the swap gear for a few levels. Once I get through THF and get my last level on DRG I will only have RNG. Yeah, I'm PUMPED!!!!!! Just having all the exp done will make me feel great. When I finish all my exp for Maat's Cap I think I will put in my app to DF and while they are talking about not letting me in I can work on fighting Maat. lol 21 LEVELS OR 377K EXP TO GO!!!!!
There's so much I can do after I get done with Maat's Cap its not even funny. For one is stress less about NEEDING exp and HAVING to finish this. I can relax and maybe concentrate on gil making, missions, Campaign, and maybe even finishing off some stuff on Screamineagle. This is such a comforting feeling to be able to see the end and not have any HUGE plans afterwards. Maybe some exp, definitely some merits when I feel like it, possibly crafting, such options!
Oh, and on a quick side note, I did my first Einherjar run in a loooooooooong time with DF this weekend. Someone messed up a pull and linked the last wave of mobs and the boss so we ended up wiping but I'm just happy I got about 1300 points that is going towards my Omega Ring. If they let me in I would love to dual box Screamineagle in there to get him some extra gear as well.

I Just Stole 60
Basically, I thieved myself through the 50s again without swinging a weapon. Thief is now 60 and ready for the 1 night stand to finish it to 66.... hopefully! The great part is that I don't have anything to skill up for THF so it doesn't really matter if I blow it off. I just need to get it to 66 and that's all.
Another thing I got done this weekend was get DRG to 62 and my Polearm to 192. I still have a lot of work to do on my Polearm skill but I'm happy that I'm making decent progress on my DRG. This is one job I haven't minded taking the slow way because I know in the end it will shine with higher weapon skill and my new found knowledge of how to mitigate hate. Dropping a 600+ weaponskill on a mob and not taking any damage by the time the tank has hate back is great. Third Eye, High Jump, and Super Jump are great abilities to have in your arsenal since you can drop lots of damage, take 0 damage, and then magically have the tank tanking again.
The goal for this week is finishing THF or getting THF mostly finished and more progress on DRG. I'm thinking a minimum of 5 levels by the end of Thursday because on Friday I go out of town for the weekend.

I'm Burning Out
Yeah, I like to use stupid 1-liners to show say what I'm really doing. But I have a feeling once I actually get Maat's Cap it will be rough to think of new ones.
Since it has been a while since I posted I will go back to where I left off, DRG. I believe it was 59 the last time I posted but now it is 61. That happened this past weekend while I was moping around and had no intentions of leaving my house for reasons I will briefly mention at the end of the post. Anyways, I got into more bird parties and got my Polearm up close to 180 which is decent but still not where it needs to be if I want to beat Maat. I still have 5 levels of exp to get my skill up higher and seeing that it is not even capped for level 54 yet I will be able to get it at 200 if not close to 200 by the time I start getting into regular Colibri parties and finish DRG to 66.
Next was BST which I was finally able to finish off SMN burning, hence the title. The purpose of the title is that last night I did 4 burns in a row and was starting to get a little burned out and was not in the mood to have me and another guy pull but me hold all the mobs while he went and joined the burn. For future information, it is rather difficult to recast with over 100 mobs smacking you even if you have Aquaveil up. I was able to hold the mobs pretty well but I did end up having to use Invincible at one point to save my arse.
You may be wondering why I have THF listed in the label also. Well, THF is listed because after I finished BST I switched to THF and got 7 levels going from 50 to 57 in 2 burns. It was great to basically fly through the 50s in a matter of 2 hours. lol I figure by the time I finish DRG to 66 through exp parties I should be able to burn THF to 66 through smn burns. Hopefully I can finish them at the same time and then strictly concentrate on RNG.
One thing I have been thinking about though is that I want to have SMN above 70 before I do Maat on it because I think that trying to do him without using my 2hr could really save me some time from having to wait for my 2hr to reset and do another fight right after it. Not to mention I wouldn't mind trying to snag a Yin Yang Robe before I do the fight to really rock his socks off.
Something I have started to think about is what will I do once I get all my jobs to 66 and get my Maat's Cap. There are a few jobs I wouldn't mind getting to 75 but I'm in no real rush to do any of that. Maybe I will start meriting again and start concentrating on finishing off the jobs that matter to me like RDM or maybe even SAM. I have some STR merits I could really use or plenty of other places I can drop merits. But I have been more thinking about finishing my own MNK off to 75. It could really be a big boost for getting myself into a Salvage group especially when I'm now 1/3 on Black Belt items without spending a dime. Although, another option is trying to join an HNM shell and just help out whenever I can. Its not like I would be around all the time but whenever I get on I could devote my online time to them to get some really nice gear for myself. Plus there is sea I could jump into to get myself really rounded out for some of my jobs like SAM, MNK, or even BLM. Not to mention in sea I could pick up the enfeebling cape.
I dunno, for those that read this blog let me know what you think I should do after Maat's Cap. Level all jobs to 75? Do SCH? Join HNM? Merit? Farm as much gil as I can? Finish Bonecraft to 100 and do subcrafts to 60? I need some help people!
Oh, and I said I was going to mention why I wasn't in a good mood this weekend. Which ironically coincides a little with Lost. On 7/23/09 my car was broken into and my work laptop was stolen. Part of the ID number on the laptop was also 23. Anyways, if you know something about Lost it is one of the "cursed" numbers that Hurley talks about. But I had to have my window replaced on my own dime and luckily work paid for the laptop. Hopefully that will all be finished and taken care of by the end of tomorrow though because I will be getting my car back by the end of the day tomorrow and hopefully all my software will be completely updated on my new laptop. Ok, I'm done writing as this turned into a long post.

There is hope for this game
So to finish off THF I logged back in in Gustav Tunnel and there were 2 guys killing everything at my camp. At first I was kinda bummed, but then they realized I was going for the goblin pets and left the goblin BSTs alone. They were 2 JP guys that didn't speak any English but were very nice. I mean, they even cried for me the one time I died.
All in all I did get to level 50 on THF and was very happy. This means I am now done with THF for a very long time, which makes me very happy. It just did not seem like anyone wanted to invite a THF even though I was a good DD simply because I understood HOW to play the job. And knowing is half the battle... GI JOOOOOOOOOOE!!!!!!!! Oh, um... Yeah, but groups just didn't like inviting me so I had to try to make deal and go solo.
I am actually very happy that I am done with THF, not only because I am done with a job I haven't really been having fun with but because I get to open up a bunch of inventory space now. I think starting last night I had about 5 open slots, now after sending a bunch of stuff back to my mule I have about 15 spots and still stuff that needs to be sold. Not to mention the next job on my list will be a very liked job ... PLD! One of the biggest problems with starting a party is finding a tank and since I will be one, and hopefully a well geared one, I shouldn't have any problems at all getting a party.
PLD will be a good change of pace because for one I won't have to carry all that extra gear around and I can start showing how much I'm learning about all of these jobs that I am playing. My goal will be to get all of these jobs at some point to 75 and actually KNOW how to play them and play them all pretty well. PLD is one that kind of worries me because I have to know what I need to do to hold strong hate even over a very good DD. I have been toying around a little on Screamineagle's but it is still hard sometimes because I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing and when and all of that jazz. Learning the ins and outs of the job is what leveling is all about though, so when I hit 50 I believe I will be pretty confident tanking end game since I don't really get anything new besides gear between 50 and 75.
I guess more than anything I am looking forward to having a job that I should be able to get quick parties on and be able to speed through levels again. There is something about the grind of leveling that makes it so rough, but there is something completely different about blitzing through levels. The grind is tough because you really feel like it is a struggle for every party you get and every mob you fight, but when you are blitzing through levels it almost becomes second nature to you and you hardly notice how fast you are going. I dunno, I guess I will just have to wait and see how it goes when I actually gear it up and go.
This weekend is another weekend of visiting my gf because it is a home OSU football game and they are playing Penn State which means a HUGE game. Basically whoever wins this puts themself in contention for the National Championship game. But all that means that I won't be gaming until Sunday and I have a feeling I may be joining Sush's Sky LS on Sunday as well. I could really use the steady flow of gil as an income to help pay my way to some new good gear and help pay for my leveling because when I get to RNG its going to get expensive. Not to mention only looking forward to Maat's Cap doesn't have the incentive that it did before. I'd really like to have some of the Shura gear waiting for me when I get high enough and be able to snag some w legs .... :D and some N gear to be able to make my WAR worth while and DRG when I get it there. Its just there are always spots I could upgrade on all of my jobs. So I guess that's it for now. Have a good weekend.

What time is it....?
TOOL TIME! I mean DUO TIME!
The night started out with some normal RL stuff and then into some Rock Band 2 and then into duoing with my brother. Honestly the duoing felt REALLY slow but with our exp rings on it seemed good since we were doing about 7k/hr. It was probably just that we were fighing mostly IT mobs which was really a pain and just always took a while to kill each mob. Once Khrone hits 31 or so on his DNC I can abuse him for the Desert camp. We did get 2 levels for him on DNC and I eventually got 2 levels on my THF.
Once I burned the rest of my first ring and my second ring we decided to stop for the night. When we finished I was 1600 til 49 so I went out to Gustav Tunnel and was killing some leeches out there. I did die once but that was because I tried out Hide and realized that when pets are involved it doesn't work. The next time I got the huge links I was smart and just Flee'd to get my butt outta there. Once I started to settle into a rhythm I was moving pretty well at about 4k/hr since I'm using junk level 28 Archer's Knives and my only real damage I do is my SA + VB which does hit anywhere from 35-50% of the leech's HP. I decided to just log out out there so I can just log on today and finish my THF to 50 ... finally.
Tonight will be at least THF to 50 since I'm only about 5 or 6k away. After that I will either be going to do something with Khrone or maybe go back out there on DRG to finish that off to 50 so I can work on my AF quest and get rid of the keys I have. Finishing THF and DRG will be nice because it will clear up some well needed inventory space.

Fun with New Friends
I got a good laugh out of this story that I am going to tell but I will talk about it when I get to it in chronological order.
Started off the night by going to play volleyball ... after playing some Rock Band 2 of course. Then after getting online and looking for a party no one was biting on getting a THF so of course I played some more RB2. I actually unlocked a bunch of new venues and songs, but after I played my last 3 song gig I had enough stars to go for my plane! So tonight I will be going for my plane to open up the rest of the world to go around and make some new fans and open LOTS more stuff in the game.
At about 11:30 someone FINALLY invited me to their party. I was pumped, even though I did have to pause a song and screwed up a little because I wanted to make sure I got into the party. Once the party was together we went out to Quicksand Caves and there was a party there so we pulled back a little and tried our luck even though that is really a 1 party camp. At the start I was being nice and letting the other THF pull more mobs because their party was their 1st and I did feel a little bad. A little while later while me and the other THF were waiting for mobs to respawn I made a funny by saying, "I wish these mobs repopped like Colibri." Apparently that's when I set off the other THF because he responded with, "That's why this is a 1 party camp you assholes." Obviously I took offense to being called an asshole, so I did what any other "asshole" would do. I stopped being nice and kept out pulling him on EVERY mob that we tried to pull at the same time. Well if he's going to call me an asshole I might as well act like it right?
What was also amusing is that the THF kept checking me and checking me, I swear he had a macro to check me. Seriously, he checked me about 15 times in about a 15 min span, which was at least 2 times every time he wasn't engaged. Sadly for him he was trying to make fun of my gear which I admit was under par but I was still doing hella damage with my SA's and SATA's which I found a nice medium with since there was no 2nd voker for the PLD. I would SA at the start then SATA the SAM later on because if nothing else he could take a hit or two. Not to mention no one could even come close to what my WSs were doing because my high was about 420 and anyone else's was about 180. So even with my level 28 Archer's Knives I was still doing some awesome damage. That's one of the things that other THF kept trying to make fun of me for, he said "Nice daggers", and I replied with "Thanks, level 28 ftw", and he then responded with, "I was being sarcastic goofy." At that point I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or poke fun at me again, but knowing me, I took it as a compliment that I was still better than he was. :D
To top this whole story off, his party left about 2 mobs before mine did and that's when I realized that he was a 75 THF that was level syncing down to level 47. WHAT A RETARD! He was wearing a bunch of high level gear and I don't think he realizes that most of that high level gear doesn't sync down very well, OH WELL. So does that still make me a better THF than him?
Today I have some more RL stuff after work which means I won't be able to get online until about 9 or so tonight. I'm really hoping that I can at least hit 49 on my THF so I can just go to Gustav to solo pets instead of going all the way out to Cape Teriggan. So if I do hit 49 on THF tonight I'm going to stop it there and swap to my DRG and go kill some pets because I need to get my DRG to 50 so I can start popping those coffers and complete some AF.
On a side note, I am hoping Hybrid will be back this weekend because he has had some RL issues with moving and "stuff" but he will be back. Which means I will have my exp buddy back! ... hopefully :D
And while I'm talking about friends ... Disdain get your sorry butt back in game already!!!

Obviously I took offense to being called an asshole, so I did what any other "asshole" would do. I stopped being nice and kept out pulling him on EVERY mob that we tried to pull at the same time. Well if he's going to call me an asshole I might as well act like it right?
What was also amusing is that the THF kept checking me and checking me, I swear he had a macro to check me. Seriously, he checked me about 15 times in about a 15 min span, which was at least 2 times every time he wasn't engaged. Sadly for him he was trying to make fun of my gear which I admit was under par but I was still doing hella damage with my SA's and SATA's which I found a nice medium with since there was no 2nd voker for the PLD. I would SA at the start then SATA the SAM later on because if nothing else he could take a hit or two. Not to mention no one could even come close to what my WSs were doing because my high was about 420 and anyone else's was about 180. So even with my level 28 Archer's Knives I was still doing some awesome damage. That's one of the things that other THF kept trying to make fun of me for, he said "Nice daggers", and I replied with "Thanks, level 28 ftw", and he then responded with, "I was being sarcastic goofy." At that point I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or poke fun at me again, but knowing me, I took it as a compliment that I was still better than he was. :D
To top this whole story off, his party left about 2 mobs before mine did and that's when I realized that he was a 75 THF that was level syncing down to level 47. WHAT A RETARD! He was wearing a bunch of high level gear and I don't think he realizes that most of that high level gear doesn't sync down very well, OH WELL. So does that still make me a better THF than him?
Today I have some more RL stuff after work which means I won't be able to get online until about 9 or so tonight. I'm really hoping that I can at least hit 49 on my THF so I can just go to Gustav to solo pets instead of going all the way out to Cape Teriggan. So if I do hit 49 on THF tonight I'm going to stop it there and swap to my DRG and go kill some pets because I need to get my DRG to 50 so I can start popping those coffers and complete some AF.
On a side note, I am hoping Hybrid will be back this weekend because he has had some RL issues with moving and "stuff" but he will be back. Which means I will have my exp buddy back! ... hopefully :D
And while I'm talking about friends ... Disdain get your sorry butt back in game already!!!

Getting Bored
Last night was kind of uneventful. After volleyball I went and duo'd with Khrone in Altepa again. He got his SAM to 37 and I got my THF to 46. I guess that leaves us with going out to the bird camp in the past to rock out some hard core exp. Hopefully I can snag Swifman and his friends to come out and have some fun with us because he was out there last night with Sinles and Arbil and he got 5 levels on his DRG.
I am kind of at a loss at what else to talk about. I mean there is stuff I'd like to do in game like camp some NMs, join an end game LS, exp more, but my drive is dying out. The only thing really keeping me rolling right now is friends (and my brother) asking me to go do stuff with them. Sush keeps inviting me to his LS, Khrone keeps asking me to help PL him or get avatars or something, and then Swifman asking to go level with him or join his HNM shell. All those things are really what's keepin me chuggin along right now. I don't really have that self drive that I used to, which may be because of the jobs that I'm playing or maybe I'm just burned out from all the exp that I've gotten lately and I need a change of pace. That's probably partially why I have been starting all my AF earlier than I originally planned.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about quitting but I'm just talking about motivation to get stuff accomplished in game. I really want Maat's cap, but its just such a struggle to keep exping EVERY night and at such great lengths. I'd love to actually do some other stuff like assaults or nyzule isle or even limbus. Heck, even just go do some ENMs for gil because you can never have too much gil. The more I think about it the more I realize that end game wasn't just about getting gil and items, but it was about doing all that with your friends and having fun with it. Ok, I guess I will just stop there because this therapy session needs to end. haha
Tonight I hope to get my Quicksand Caves coffer key and then the AF weapon fight that I have in the Cloister of Tremors done. After I get the coffer key I will have all the keys I need for my DRG AF, so I guess that means I'm doing DRG first. Maybe with some spare time I have I will go get DRG to 50 so I can actually GET the AF started and finished on DRG.

I Bring the Pain
Last night Khrone and I did a little duoing out in Eastern Altepa before we went to do some Avatar fights with Arckk. While we were out there I got to show Khrone what kind of damage a real THF can do on those pets. I was starting off just doing SATA on him because Screamin would pull hate pretty easily with me loading him up with enmity gear. I would do about 200 or so damage per SATA which isn't too bad since the pets only have about 400-500 HP. Once I showed him what a SATA + Viper Bite looked like he was quite shocked. After the 320ish damage from that I asked him to do a little parsing. I think we were about 3 mobs into parsing and he said I was doing about 75% of the damage because he couldn't swing fast enough and WS fast enough. What was really funny is that I basically just SATA'd and that was it too. He was the only one doing any real melee damage. On actual mobs he would probably destroy me though. lol
When Arckk got back on we went and killed Shiva and Ifrit which were both pretty easy except for Ifrit's 2hr which actually did 1300+ damage on Screamin to which I was VERY shocked. Granted that was more Arckk's fault because he didn't have Barfira up at that point. Oh well, he only lost like 200 exp and he's only about 400 from recapping exp again anyways.
Its nice doing things with friends again, I like the relaxed atmosphere. Lazy exp with Khrone is nice too because I'm helping him out, but at the same time I'm getting THF to 50 in hopes of my goals. My THF is now 44 by the way, so only 6 more levels before I can be done with THF for a long time. Hopefully I can find some parties that will let my THF be a THF for once.
I know its blasphemous but I am starting to contemplate end game again because I'm seeing all these people that I used to play with in other LSs have all this nice gear and I'm just kinda getting left in the dust in that aspect. I want to have that nice gear to show for all the work that I'm doing too. Its nice to have the versatility that I will eventually have but then again none of my newer jobs to 75 will have any GOOD gear because I haven't spent any time doing end game. I know I shouldn't pick on Khrone, but its so easy because he's my brother, but I look at him and all his talking about wanting to pimp his only 75 job and he's not really doing anything about it. He has a dynamis shell but can't go to most of the events because they are all places that he can't go to since he is still waiting for his Windy clear. But I know that he really should join a sky LS because no matter how long a line is for specific gear there is no way he's going to get it unless he gets in that line. I just don't want to see him waste a lot of time in game like I did the first 2 or 3 years. The other thing is that I could EASILY get him into an LS because I know a few good people out there. Meh, I really am feeling less and less accomplished in game as this is going on. I need to find some way to rekindle my desire to level and get stuff done.
Tonight will hopefully be getting a few more levels on my THF with Khrone on his SAM. Besides that I don't really have anything else to do. Maybe I could go run around and make sure I have all the tuning forks for both myself and Screamin so I don't have to hold people up like I did last night. After that I could try to finish up the rest of my AF weapon fights and quests. So I potentially have a filled evening. Although its very tempting to go run up to sky with Sush's LS...

Hitting a Wall
I don't really know what it is but I don't have that drive to exp like I used to. I knew it was coming but I really hoped I could've hit all jobs to 50 before that happened. Does this mean I am not going to go for Maat's Cap anymore? No. Does this mean I won't be hitting my goals as I hoped? Yes.
This isn't such a bad spot for me to be hitting the perverbial wall because I can go out and do some other stuff like AF quests and coffer hunting. Or I can do avatar fights with Khrone and Arckk like I have been doing and will be doing more of tonight. I do still want to get THF to 50 because then I can at least be skilling up my Marksmanship on coffer mobs and be abusing my own TH2.
The ironic part of doing coffer and AF hunting right now is that the one job that I have 2 keys for is the one that I was going to take slowly to 50 with exp scrolls. This means I will have to find a faster way to get my DRG to 50 than just banking on the scrolls. I could go sit in Gustav Tunnel for an hour or so and get my level and then use the scrolls to start leveling my SMN or WHM or something.
Although with a lot of these AF weapon quests I could go through and DO the quests but not actually get the weapons because they would all be taking up inventory space. But getting these quests out of the way would be a great help. I guess that means I have to lay out a plan so that I can spend the least amount of time actually going around and getting the quests and doing the quests so I won't have to do one and realize that I could've started 3 in the same town.
As it seems right now I only have to do a run to Windy and Sandy to get all of my weapons quests started and then most are just run out, fight, and run back. It really should only take me a night to finish 5 weapons quests, but the 6th will be kind of a pain because I have to wait for a full moon to complete the Ranger one. I guess in my free time after work I will go start my quests and see how many I can finish up real quick.
Tonight will be another night of very little leveling if at all because I have RL stuff again and then I will be doing some more avatar runs with Khrone and Arckk. Hopefully after tonight Arckk will have his Moon Bauble and Khrone will have a coupld whispers towards his Moon Bauble. Once they both have their Baubles we can go knock out Fenrir for them to get the summon and for myself to get the Evoker's Ring. I can't believe I'm about to have the Evoker's Ring and my SMN is only 40. lol Ah well, at least its another thing down the road that I won't have to do.

THIEF!!!
After a seemingly very short weekend I came home to leveling THF. No joke, I had my flag up for about 2 seconds and I already had an invite. People apparently are discovering the bird camp in the past and taking full advantage of Level Sync.
The party was WHM, PLD, RNG, RNG, BST, and THF (me) and we did pretty well considering we didn't have a PL. We were still rolling at about 9k/hr with having to go a little slower than I am accustomed to because of waiting for healing magic. It was a good paced but still relaxing party where I could still watch TV while not having to worry about people dying. The only real problem I had with the party was that I couldn't take full advantage of my THF. There was no 1st provoke for me to drop a full SATA so I was doing separated SA and TA attacks but always using WS with my SA for more damage. One time the RNG pulled a lot of hate and the PLD couldn't get it back and I actually got a chance to land a full SATA on him ... no WS ... and it still landed for over 300 damage. Its nice to see the possibility of great damage that I can do with a THF but it was kind of disheartening that I couldn't take advantage of it in the party I was in.
The night was definitely an accomplishment though because I did get 4 levels and got up to 41 on my THF. One of these nights I really should put together my own party and head out there since it really isn't that hard to just grab 1 level 37 person and a party and go rock out in that camp. I honestly could see myself going all the way to the mid 50s on all of my jobs in this camp because it is sooooo easy to exp there and the exp flows so well.
As for goal reaching, I'm not going to even come close to my goal of October 19th for this tier because that's 7 days but I need 38 levels still. That means I need over 5 levels per day to hit that which is VERY unlikely. I did take a few nights off which is really what held me back but I did also get a few coffer keys which makes things easier when I do all my AFs. It has been nice to slow down a bit because the whole reason I was doing this is because I was having fun going at my own pace for everything and pushing myself so hard to keep up with my aggressive goals has been taxing me. So slowing down and enjoying the scenery will do me some good.
On the plus side, I have hit 925 total job levels which is really making me realize I'm getting really close to 1000 levels. That's one hell of a lot of job levels for one character... I have also broken below 200 levels to go til Maat's cap and am now at 196 to go. Doesn't sound like much and I realize that is still quite a lot of exp to get but I'm glad I have broken through another plateau.
